The PEW PEWS

I was tasked with creating a fake band's CD packaging. I combined photography and digital illustration to make a unique, engaging visual. I love music and although this was a fake band, I already had an idea of how the band would sound. To me The Pew Pews sounded like pop inspired bossa nova with dance pop influences (I was specifically inspired by HaliCali's song おつかれSUMMER). Following this inspiration, I had the idea to make an intergalactic popstar persona who travelled the stars making music. I wanted the visuals to be fun, innocent, and bold.

When taking the photos I used my younger sibling as the model and spray painted toys I found at the thrift store as props. I had my sibling jump on the trampoline for the aerial shots and played around with staging them with the props in our dad's backyard. Once the shots were complete, I drew on the characters head and other features using Clip Studio Paint. Once the main pieces were created, I added the final touches to a mock-up in Photoshop.
